Currently CMRL is working with dedication on extension of the metro to the prime locations of the metropolitan region.

- Chennai Metro is the expensive metro rail in India in terms of ticket fare and construction cost. But, Tamilnadu government are looking to reduce ticket fare by completion of entire metro network construction.
- Chennai Metro trains can operate remotely without drivers. But, CMRL decided to operate train by drivers for some initial days of starting operation. CMRL elected Mrs. Preethi, a 28 year old trained driver to operate first service after inauguration.
- As per decision of CMRL, metro trains will halt at each station for 30 seconds only.
- Operation Control Centre (OCC) at Ashok Nagar and Koyambedu stations are controlling the operation of metro trains. Passengers can also connect with OCC through emergency button at trains in danger situations.
