Lucknow Metro Rail Network:
The initiatives to implement a metro network at Lucknow is started at 2008, from submitting a DPR by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation [DMRC]. U.P and Central Government gives all clearance to establish Lucknow metro and it’s foundation laid at March 2014. The tender for construction of first phase is acquired by DMRC under supervision of “metro man” E. Sreedharan. Lucknow Metro started it’s commercial operation on 5th September 2017 by running a train at a 8.5 km stretch.

Infrastructure, Facilities & Security of Lucknow Metro:
Alstom, leading train coach manufacturer is provided metro train coaches for phase 1A of Lucknow Metro. Each metro coaches are designed by targeting including more commuters in a run. When coming to stations, there have a WiFi connection, which is free for smart card holders. The stations are neat clean and housekeeping staffs are deployed there to keep it up. Drinking water, escalators, toilets are also provided on each stations. The security of metro stations and trains are headed by special team of Lucknow Police. The security includes all common practices like metal detector, scanning and CCTV.
Fare and Ridership of Lucknow Metro:
The ridership of Lucknow Metro is low when comparing to other metros in India. The daily ridership is recorded as 15,000 on an average as per the latest reports.
